The who, what, when!

Scouts is the third section within our group, for young people aged between 10.5 and 14. We meet on a Tuesday, between 6.45pm and 8.15pm and do a wide range of activities! Like all sections in Scouting we wear a uniform - Scouts have a turquiose shirt, blue trousers and a red scarf. Our Troop is led by Jamie, our Scout Leader, along with a Young Leader. Wihtin the Troop we are split into two patrols, each with a Patrol Leader (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leader (APL).

For more general information on Scouts, and a taster of what we do visit http://www.scouts.org.uk/scouts

Activities

The activities we do vary widely! We do things like games, computing, crate stacking, camping, hiking, learning about the world, cooking, pioneering, knots, high ropes, international camping, assault courses, learning about religions, acting and drama, go-carting and swimming to mention just a few! The PLs, APLs and Leaders form the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) which gives us a big say in how the troop is run and so we get to choose what activities we would like to do (with a bit of guidance!)

At the moment...

We've continuing to meet with the Explorers for about an hour every other week and are getting ready to go camping with the Cubs over the bank holiday. We're also planning a special treat for the end of term and preparing for our trip to France in the summer.

For more details on what we're up to check out the calendar.

Want to join?

If you'd like to join (or a parent of somebody who would) then please contact Jamie Wrigglesworth our Scout Leader or drop by on a Tuesday evening. You may also want to take a look at our welcome pack which has more information about joining the pack.

If you don't live around Clerkenwell, Finsbury or Islington you're still more than welcome but there may be an Cub Pack nearer. Visit www.scouts.org.uk/join to be put in touch with your local units. There is some flexibility in the age groups so if you're nearly 10 we can take you, if you're nearly 14 then Explorers may be better.

Want to help out?

We're also always on the look out for new leaders and people to help out with the group, and at the moment, particularly in the Scout section where we need an assistant leader. If you fancy being a leader or regular volunteer visit the Vacanices page for more details. If you want to help more informally, come along to teach a skill, give us an idea for an evening or anything else then please E-mail George Wrigglesworth, our Group Scout Leader.
